fiverr-link-buildingSo, if you haven’t heard of Fiverr, you haven’t been in the online publishing business long. Basically Fiverr offers a two-way commerce system for people to sell their services and wares for $5 (starting rate!).

I have used Fiverr people for various campaigns over the years some for blog stuff, others for design stuff, and even press release distribution. Based on that experience, I feel pretty good about my ability to find the right kind of people and help there.

Many of the Author’s Resources I’m using while researching and working on this Great Kindle Publishing Experiment are recommending Fiverr as a resource for various stages in the publishing process – from the cover design to proofreading to even ghostwriting.

Personally, I do a lot of the legwork myself, and I’ve got in-house help with cover design, proofing, and the like – so I’m looking at the Fiverr crew for potential marketing stuff. I’m talking about the posts to the various reader groups on Facebook and well-placed tweets, LinkedIn posts and etc., for example.

How to Find the Best Fiverr Gigs

From my previous experience, there are several ways to go about finding the “good” ones on Fiverr.

  • First, and always, check the reviews left by other people on the Fiverr gig you’re considering. That’ll give you a pretty clear idea – and don’t forget to ALWAYS read the lowest reviews first. They are sometimes just rude people, but often they offer up valuable pieces of info that can give you insight into the quality of the gig.
  • If it’s a new gig, check out the poster’s profile – their reviews on other gigs can offer insight. If it’s a new gig with no feedback, maybe you want to just take a leap of faith – after all, we all get started somewhere, and who’s to say that you can’t be the first totally satisfied customer. Plus, it’s five bucks, right?

So, the next step in my Great Kindle Marketing Experiment will be to first schedule a free 5-day period for my newest book and then to pay up to three Fiverr people to do some marketing on Facebook and other forms of social media.

When I report back to you on this one, I’ll let you know:

  • Who I hired.
  • What they did.
  • What the results were.
  • Whether or not it made me any money.

Stay tuned! In the meantime, got any publishing ideas or marketing ideas for me? Let me hear them. Questions, concerns, things you wanna talk about?
